REV DEACON ROBERT SMITH

DEACON BOB SMITH was born in Liverpool and spent his childhood living just a few hundred yards away from the now defunct Toxteth Dock.

He was actually baptised into the Church of England, and, during his formative years, attended a Baptist Church - the Toxteth Tabernacle.

At the age of sixteen years, having suffered a serious accident, Bob decided that the Catholic faith was for him and began steps towards conversion.

Bob and his wife of thirty-seven years, Marie, have brought up a family of six children and live just a few hundred yards from St. Jude's Church. He was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on 10th June 2001. (See "Photo Review 2001")
